This makes 16 ounces, typically this is for two people, or breakfast and lunch!
Ingredients:
3-4 large kale leaves
1/2 cup fruit, fresh or frozen (blackberries, blueberries, raspberries)
1 cup juice (I use Bolt House Blue Goodness)
1 Tablespoon ground flax (rich omega-3’s)
1/2 cup plain yogurt (Vanilla is good, too!)
1 Tablespoon cider vinegar (health benefits!)
1 Tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon turmeric (anti-inflammatory agent)
Ice (only if you want it more like a frozen drink)
1. Gather all ingredients. I used blackberries from my fruit share, if using blueberries, only use half as they have a very high pectin level it will become very thick!
2. Remove the rib from the kale leaves. Wash leaves in cold water then rough chop to fit in blender.
3. Blend all ingredients together until smooth consistency.
4. Now have some fun! Add favorites, such as fresh ginger, juice from oranges or watermelon. If using fruit that browns, you will want to add a squeeze of lemon juice to avoid a brown smoothie.
5. Garnish with a dab of yogurt, a berry and mint to make this healthy smoothie extra fancy!
