Ingredients:
1 Tablespoon butter
1 medium onion, halved, and thinly sliced
2 apples or pears, halved, cored, and sliced
1 head cabbage, cut into quarters, remove core, and thinly sliced
Salt and ground pepper
3 Tablespoons cider vinegar
4 teaspoons sugar
1/2 cup water
1. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onion and apple; cook, stirring, until onion softens, about 4 to 6 minutes.
2. Stir in cabbage and season with salt and pepper. Add vinegar, sugar, and water.
3. Bring to a boil; reduce to a simmer, cover. Cook until cabbage is tender, 20 to 25 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and sugar.
